Often, when you lose a job, someone will tell you, "Now's the time to follow your passion!" What does that mean? Are you out of luck if you don't have a passion? Does that mean it's time to find a passion? And what, exactly, does said "passion" get you? Fact of the matter is, this is typically something people say so that they can feel better complaining about their jobs when you'd give your left leg to be employed again. But, it may strike a chord with some people -- some people will say, "Yeah, you know what? I will follow my passion!"
That's when the real work begins. Because you've got to find your passion before you can follow it, and most people really aren't sure what this supposed "passion" is. Granted, to some people it comes easily. But these are typically the people that have known what they want to do for their entire life--in fact, they're already doing it. If you've just gotten laid off from your desk job or your auto plant shut down, chances are, you're looking for a new path, a new passion, to follow.
